Default 1995 Ford F150 4.9l L6 300ci

I got this truck free. It had been sitting for a while. I have spent approximately 1,700 dollars on parts. The truck turns over just fine. It is getting spark at the plugs, and fuel in the cylinders. The compression on each cylinder is between 110 and 125. Even with the three essentials it still will not crank. It has all new ignition parts plugs, cap, etc. It has a new throttle position sensor, new MAP sensor, idle air control valve, ignition module, battery, alternator, starter solenoid, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, new fuel injectors, and ignition coil. The SMOG system has been removed and the new shortened belt installed. The O2 sensor was replaced but it no longer has a catalytic converter. Can somebody tell me what I missed without a lot of criticism? I have changed almost all the necessary parts for this truck to crank except the ECM. I also used an OBD1 code reader, and it shows no codes. Any help would be massively appreciated.

Hi Robbin,
How about you tell us how you replaced the dist cap?

Did you do all the wires at once or one at a time?

Were you aware of the correct firing order for the plug wires and following the correct direction of rotation of the plug wires on to the cap?

How long has the fuel been stored in the tank, did you try some fresh fuel? If you removed a plug or two after attempting to start it ,were they wet or dry?
If they were wet , could you try to lite the end of the wet plug with a match and see if that wetness will burn?

I changed the cap and the wires at the same time. I know the firing order and how to replace the wires. I also know the direction the distributor moves in. All this has been checked already. The gas tank was removed completely and cleaned out then fresh gas put in it a long with a new fuel pump. The plugs were dry, I took 3 of them out to make sure they were firing and all three were dry. Any suggestions, I'm at the end of my knowledge base.

The fact that the plugs were dry would tell us fuel is not getting into the cyls.
Suggest you start with checking all the fuses.there will be one that provides power to the injectors and that has to be verified.
Anything that controls the operation of the fuel injectors needs to be checked for working as required. They should get power when the key is on and the ignition module and PCM determine when they get a ground signal to inject..

Did you place the timing mark on the correct spot of the crank pulley ( TDC) while the #1 piston was coming up on the compression stroke and pointing to where the #1 spark plug wire should be? You must remove the #1 plug to make sure the piston is on the compression stroke because the mark will also point to TDC when #6 cyl is up and timing will be off.. Consider this as just a reminder if you have done all this.
Do you hear the fuel pump run for the 1-2 seconds when you first turn the key on? Yes/No

First hanky, thank you for all the information you have provided me thus far. I checked the fuses that govern the fuel injector system, and all were good. As a matter of fact, I checked all the fuses in the cab and the engine compartment. When you say everything that controls the fuel injectors what did you mean other than the fuses?? I have replaced the ignition module, and I do not know how to check the PCM. Also, I was told by another mechanic that I may have a grounding issue. As far as the timing goes, I made sure the #1 piston was up on the compression stroke, and at that point made sure the rotor button was facing toward #1. I set the timing with the sprout out. It is currently set at 10 degrees BTDC. I can hear the fuel pump for a few seconds when I turn on the ignition. I think I answered everything you suggested with the exception of how to test the ignition module and the PCM. Thanks again.

If you have spark, the ign system is OK.

What are you getting at the spark plugs when attempting to start the engine as far as fuel into the cyls is concerned?
We need the answer to whether the plugs are wet or dry.
We still don't know if the injectors are working or if fuel is getting up to them at the correct pressure.

I tried that already, last night. I tried for several minutes to crank the truck before taking out several plugs, all were dry. I checked the Schrader valve to make sure I had fuel up to there. I am going out today and check the pressure at the Schrader valve. Can you tell me what it should be?

Fuel pressure should be between 35-45 PSI.

With the key on, all injectors should have 12 volts at each injector..
The PCM supplies the ground signal to activate the injector.

You can do the 2 tests with a simple test light.
If you have 12 volts at the injectors, now just clip the alligator clip on the test light to the battery positive terminal and when cranking the engine over to start it, the other terminal at the injector should cause the test light to blink, confirming the PCM is sending the ground signal to the injector. What result have you found?
