69 ford fairlane 500 ignition
I am totally new to working on cars. I bought a 69 ford fairlane 500 to learn. Anyway I'm in the middle of rebuilding the engine and I came across an MSD 6AL ignition box. I have a 2091 top end kit and was wondering which ignition kit is recommended? I need a distributor and coil provided these are recommended for my engine. I also have a four barrel holly carb.
Should I sell the 6AL box and go another route (spending the additional $450 or is there a cheaper option?

A lot depends , I think, on what you plan to do with the car.
If you are only going to take it to shows , it might be just fine with a contact point ignition.
Something you might consider, if you were to convert it to a transistorized ignition, there are some extra benefits.
If used for other than shows,a transistor ign system doesn't require constant checking of point gap and timing adjustments. That was the thing back in the days of contact point systems, a "Tune UP" was required to bring things back into best settings. That is not required with a transistorized ign system . That is why they went to that type system.Less required maintenance.
There is something to be said for keeping it original and classic and staying with a point/condenser system.
You might do a little research and see what is available and which you would prefer to have.
