Default 2010 E350 Mysteriously Losing Oil.

In between oil changes every 3500 miles, my 2010 Club Wagon is losing about 3 qts of oil. There is NO visible oil leak, NO smoke and NO oil or soot in the tailpipe. Where is the oil going? 264,000 miles

Actually, it looks a little brown and it's a bit oily to the touch.

It is mostly clear though, not milky and no oil spots that I could see. Also, I discovered today during my oil change that the used oil filter was too small. (I did not perform the last oil change and was not there to supervise)

I did the oil change myself yesterday. The bottom of the engine looks fine. No visible oil or leak. I’m starting to suspect whomever did the last oil change only put 3 qts nstead of 6. They did put the wrong size filter after all.

You could be 100% correct and sometimes the help is responsible, but at least now you know to keep an eye on the oil level.
Unfortunately, some places have problems getting good help and things like this do happen.
If you can, we would like to know if your theory was correct. Thanks.
