Angry Engine enabled so long

I just bought at new 2022 Plug in Escape, and think it a worthy successor to my 2014 Cmax Energi. But unlike the Cmax, the engine enabled light comes on EVERY time I start it up, and the gas engine runs for 1-3 miles (at air temp in the 20s). This is annoying--I have solar panels on my house and want to run the Escape on electric as much as possible. So I am wondering: what is the 'engine enabled' default linked to--why does it run so long? And is there any way to adjust it so that the ''EV now' comes on more quickly? Anybody else annoyed by this problem? I live in Minneapolis, so obviously this problem is going to be around for a few months

If that feature can be altered, your dealer should be able to do it or at least give you an answer.

Be aware of you do anything on your own , you risk the chance of warranty problems.

Default engine enabled

Thanks, Hanky. I am in touch with the dealer. I thought I'd reach out to see if anyone else had experienced this and figured out why.
