How does the Escape phev 12 v battery get charged? I ask because I want to install a dash cam. The installer says I need a battery backup, but if the car charges the 12 v batter from the high voltage battery, then it will stay charged all the time, right?

 

A certain amount of that is true.

Like the guy said, never say never,because just when you think everything is covered, something goes wrong.

Hi voltage batteries go bad too and if you rely on that alone , how much extra would it cost to have a back up, might be worth considering.
