BLUF: Moving from Alabama to New Jersey. What options are there for block heaters (cordless) from Ford versus a plug-in style?

I currently have an F-150 10-Speed Ecoboost and I am contemplating purchasing a 2019 F-250 Diesel. Reason I am purchasing an 8.5x28 enclosed trailer w/7k axles. The F-150 will pull it but if I want to get full capacity out of it I will need the F-250.

Purchasing a Diesel in Alabama doesn’t usually come with a block heater for obvious reasons. I wanted to know how often a block heater would really need to be utilized somewhere like New Jersey?

Hi Robert,
I don't know about cordless engine heaters, but some will depend on where in NJ you are planning to reside.

If it is in southern NJ probably not needed, but nice to have.
If in northern NJ worth considering. It is nice when you first start the engine that is already warm, you have instant heat for the htr/def if you need to remove ice /snow from the windshield
With heated seats maybe not that much for comfort. If you will be near the east coast , it's always a little warmer there. If you go into central or western Jersey , it is much colder there in the winter. If you have the opportunity to have an engine heater option ,and you use it, It could help lower the wear on the engine with a warm engine for starting, if used.
Maybe someone will provide some addl info that might help you with a decision.

Thanks for the reply. I will be in the Dover, NJ area and will be in an apartment versus a house.

It's a nice area, but it can get cold ( might go to 0 F at times ) up there. It might pay to inquire if there would be some place to plug in to utilize a heater. Some of the apartments provide parking space and even some will have garage space available, they vary.
