Question Looking for help

I own a 1956 F100 with a 1985 Mustang engine (5.O) lately it has been not wanting to start and I drive it daily, so it is not normal for this truck to sit and crank and crank and not fire up. I replaced the cap/rotor as well as the coil and went do far as to buy a new ignition control module started once plugged the old one in and fired it up 9 times no issue and now it is acting up again. Could it be the fuel pump though it runs awesome when it does start for me lol Thanks in advance.

Can you do this,,, when it refuses to start, remove one spark plug, any one, and see if the spark plug is wet with gasoline or dry.
That would give us some idea if fuel is or is not getting to the combustion chamber.

Have you considered the possibility of a faulty fuel pressure regulator? I'm not an expert, but I've heard that can cause similar symptoms. Maybe worth looking into?

Thanks, it feels like a fuel pump issue to me as well I thought pump maybe weak as it sits a week and just cranks but if started each day it fires right up. I have 4 lbs. maybe close to 5 lbs. of pressure if my gauge is correct under the hood.

Can you try this:
Turn the key on ,don't try to start the engine. Turn the key off and repeat another 2 or 3 times. Then see if the engine starts right away, Yes/No .

I believe your engine is fuel injected and if so, you require higher fuel pressure than 5 lbs.

Does it have throttle body fuel injection or injectors in manifold ?

Smile Thank you I will try that

Hmm thought it was just a carbureted 5.0 so if I have anything maybe a throttle body? I will try to poke around I bought it used after someone in WY restored it with a Dodge front end and a Ford 5.0 the Ford engine was the only reason I bothered to buy it.
