New here
After 35 years with the Fleet Maintenance Department at the City of St Petersburg, Florida, I retired and came to work for the City of St Pete Beach (also in Florida, but a completely different municipality). I was challenged to "start with nothing" and set up a Fleet Operation for a fleet of about 40 vehicles, mostly Ford Trucks ranging from Rangers (2 short timers) to F550s. I also have a few other vehicles and miscellaneous equipment ranging from string trimmers to heavy equipment loaders. The previous "maintenance program" was "if it breaks, send it out". No records were kept and there was no form of preventative maintenance.
While I previously held an ASE Master certification in medium and heavy trucks (currently expired), I have been away from cars and smaller trucks for some time other than my personally owned Subarus and Isuzus. I have found this site and a few others very helpful in diagnosing a few problems and a lot of basic information. Looking forward to being on here, and shortly I will start a thread for my newest "problem child". Dennis

Know exactly where you're coming from.
One of the things a lot of folks don't realize is , municipalities have to work within a budget and have very little if any income ..
So you must get the most for the town's money and keep spending down to next to nothing. The best part is convincing folks to purchase better quality so it will last longer and cost less to keep running. Lots of luck !

Thanks to both of you. I will post the "need" on a separate thread so as to not "clog" this area. Also, I have learned that a separate thread may help someone experiencing a similar problem in the future to find their answer easier.
Agree on the "unique" municipality experience. Constant battle was trying to avoid the "LOW BID" deals. Dennis
