Raw fuel smell
Hello, I have a 2017 f150 xlt crewcab and I get a raw fuel odour inside and outside of the vehicle when vehicle is warming up. Took it to the dealer and it didn't happen for them. But, I noticed when it's cold outside, this happens. I only have 63,000km on it. Any ideas what could be the problem? There are no visible signs of leaks. Thanks
Did you explain the conditions of exactly when you get the noticeable odor?
I ask this question because,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,when the engine and some exhaust components cool, and open a gap/opening that with expansion, will close and can be difficult to find and may not show any problem when heated.
Also, the EVAP system, is supposed to capture any gasoline vapors and direct them into the engine to be burned and not allowed to exit into the surrounding air.
If you are in the habit of topping off the fuel tank until it will not take anymore, that can cause expensive problems to correct and fueling should stop when the fuel nozzle shuts off. Disregard if it doesn't apply.
