Default 2001 Windstar sliding door is stuck

I have a 2001 Windstar and the back automatic sliding door is stuck. It is stuck in the halfway open position. I have tried to turn off the automatic feature so I can close it by hand, but it is completely "siezed up". I can't get it to budge. Is there a way to completely disengage the automatic closing moter so it only operates by hand? How do you remove or disconnect the motor? Any other suggestions?

Before you get involved , you might check all the fuses first.

Dear Smith family: this has not happened to me but I had the doors operating with difficulty.
1. I would look if the bottom runner is clean and free of obstructions. Maybe something got wedged in there and keeps the wheel from moving.
2. Inside the trunk area you can take the side cover off and access the mechanics. Maybe the cable has come off the reel or pulleys.
3. It could be something electrical. But I have no experience on that.

Typically the power sliders are reliable, a bit weak, but reliable. If you need a repair used parts from the junk yard should work well.
Please let us know how it goes.

Before running to the Ford dealer I would go to a body shop.
