Default 2014 E350 Daytime Running Lamps off?

Ladies and gents, hoping to crowdsource an answer on my DRLs. I'm hoping to disable the daytime running lamps permanently. I have just installed some fancy bulbs for a bit better visibility and am hoping to make them last longer by turning off the low beams all the time, except when I turn them on at the switch. When it's dark and appropriate to have the lights on.... any thoughts of this is possible? Anyone else done this? Thanks!

I'm sure you are aware the manufacturer would have loved to save some $$$ by not installing those DRLs. The whole object is to be seen , daytime and at night , it is a proven safety issue. Have you considered installing supplemental lighting under your control without disabling the DRLs?
