I’m looking to replace my fuel pump on Ford Econoline E-150 5.4l v8 1998. Not sure what is the right fuel pump. My mechanic took a picture of it and it looks like this: The existing fuel pump on my ford e-150 1998
but looks like it should be this: Image from amazon for Ford E-150 1998
would like to know which one is correct one. Can somebody just put wrong fuel pump in my car? Got this car a year ago, so don’t know much about it
The pictures you presented are called a "Fuel Pump Module". It usually contains the fuel pump motor and tank fuel level sending unit. They are pretty expensive if you purchase a genuine Ford unit. The best way to know is to provide your VIN (vehicle identification number) to a Ford parts dept.. They have all the correct info. From that number they can tell year, model, engine size etc.
Sometimes some folks will just replace the pump motor only. That will work. Cost is much less. With newer vehicles it is best to replace the entire module.
Some aftermarket stores will sell what is called a "fits all" and that will work too. Found it best to stick with OEM . (That is what the vehicle was made with)
Most folks don't have any idea what is installed in their vehicle as long as it runs.
Please excuse the long winded post, hope some of it answered your concern.
