Ok hello,fellow fords men . I have a 89 econlone 350 . 460 with the e4od transmission . Long story short rebuilt by a company trans no long shifts to 3rd gear . Tired of arguing with the guy i went to my local pick n pull found a e4od trans in a 94 f250 . Both are gasers .when i got a home i seen that the bolt holes are different . Im thinking that my 2-3 shift valve might be stuck from what ive read on here . So my question is since these are both e4od trans from the 89-94 years era , can i just change the valve bodys till i get the money to rebuild it ?

 

If your diagnosis is correct,,,,,,,,you can try it.

But it would be foolish to open it up and not replace the fluid and filter while it is open. .
