Default V10 6.8l 2v head gasket removal

I have a e-350 van with the 6.8l 2v engine. Everything is off the motor to the access of the camshaft and timing chain. Should I take off the rollers under the camshaft journals by decompressing the springs before removing the timing chain or can I lock timing chain down remove chain/guides then remove camshaft bolts 1/4 turn at a time then lash adjusters and rollers. Just curious which way to go about it so that nothing gets messed up with ttiming. Any information is greatly appreciated thanks
