My first reaction was 'stuck' at the council . But sense the lever moves, I'm figuring that the cable is binding or hitting or is 'electrically' locked...you do know that the driver has to step on the brake pedal to unlock the lever in order to move the lever from park?

But again you play around with it long and hard enough the lever can be moved to select a gear. HUMMMMmmmmmmmm ICE? It is -8 deg F where I'm at. Drive through any puddles? Mud, Rocks, Tree branches, Sticks? Anything jammed up?

Your going to have to take a Look~see. Slider under the Edge [may have to lift it up] and have somebody with foot on the brake and ignition 'ON' so the steering whell is un-locked [BOY I HATE RALPH NADER, Mr. 'Friggen Safety'] but engine off try to slide the gear shift lever up and back, over and over again.

Check any and all of the cable that you can see or feel for movement. Look at what ever the cable is suppose to move on the transmission. And lastly if the jacket around the cable is no longer solidly anchored to something then the cable and jacket will move together. And that's never good. That's my best bet. Jacket moving around. Never works on a bike either.

skip.
