Default 2006 Escape

Newbie here! looking to purchase a 2006 escape 4cyl. owner told me the timing chain needs to be replaced. I believe this is an interference engine and if that is the case, probably best to get a new or used engine? Anything else that would be good to check on a non running escape. Looking at the car tomorrow.

The engine in that vehicle should not be an interference engine, however, if it needs timing chain work there are chains for both sides of the engine. if the right bank needs timing chain work the engine has to be removed to do the work. If you are planning on pulling the engine anyway you may not need another engine and only replace the chains and related parts. A lot will depend on the number of miles on the present engine.
