Default 2013 AC Issue

Hi Everyone- I'm having an AC issue with my 2013 escape and hoping someone smarter than than me has an idea. The majority of the time the AC runs fine. However when the air temperature gets hot (100+ but I live in Arizona so not uncommon) the compressor quickly cycles on and off when stopped for more than about 30 seconds. It happens at stop lights, drive through lines, etc. It only does this when stopped, as soon as we start moving again it resumes normal function. Any ideas on whats causing this?

Might be a good idea to have someone check the refrigerant charge with a set of gauges.
This doesn't mean add refrigerant right now. It is the first step to know where we are before wasting time and $$$ .

Can you hear the cooling fan(s) run when the A/C is requested?
