Dashboard went dark
I have a 2007 Ford escape and I changed my alternator but when I put in a different battery I don't know if I blew a fuse or what but I've checked them all and they look fine but I have no dashboard lights no gauges no radio no power mirrors and no prnd21 lights and no backup lights what could cause that and how do I change it?
If you can,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Go purchase a cheap test light from any auto supply store. You can use a voltmeter to do this , but a test light is cheaper.
If you clip the ground clip of the test light to a clean good ground connection, then point the tip of the test light to the small opening of any fuse. Each fuse has two openings on it. When you touch one side opening of a fuse in the panel, if one side lites the other side of that fuse must illuminate the test light also. If not, the fuse is open. You do not need to remove a fuse to do this . A great time saver. There may be some fuses that will not show any power on either side. For these you just may need to turn the key on. .
This can all be done in about 30 seconds without pulling any fuses, worth the effort.
Be sure to check the fuses inside the vehicle and in the engine compartment also.
