Transmission Issue
Hello, joined here because I was hoping someone would be able to shine some light on my potential situation. I have a Ford Escape 2012 Limited, at some point a few months ago it has been experiencing some rough gear shift on the first couple gears before acting normal. Then at one point, when in Drive, it would not move. If I hit the gas, it would move to a slow creep. If you hold too long, the wrench light comes on (it hasn't popped up since). It will move in reverse, but also roughly shifts when moving into reverse. I did change the driver side CV Joint back in Oct 2020. I do believe there has been some leakage, as I checked the fluid levels and they appeared low, so added more. It still will not move. Is this something that can be fixed at the home, or will I need to have it towed to either repair, or get a new transmission?
Is there any way you might have the vehicle checked for any codes ?
This can sometimes help provide some direction.
Another trans maybe, but never a new one. Too much $$$.
The choices might include a trans from a salvage yard, have the trans rebuilt if necessary, Possibly install a reman trans, costs more, but has all the latest modifications and a better warranty. How many miles, how long you intend to keep the vehicle, condition of vehicle, all come into the pix to make a decent decision.

Well I shifted into Low and tried to move, if that's what you were referring to. I will say it made a slight different attempt to move, as it inched a little more, but not really up to speed, but a bit better than Drive.
No Check Engine lights, but I may be able to borrow something from family to check if any codes come. I've heard having it rebuilt could be more costly than a new one, pending labor cost. It's got 192,542 miles on it, had it since 2014. No real major issues, other than the gas gauge is off after Ford fixed my "Recall" issue. I was hoping to keep it for some time longer than now, unless situation calls for it being pointless. Anything I can do at home to try to fix, or is it likely going to have to be a new or repaired transmission?
There were some issues with the trans converters and input shafts that drive the trans pump. Trans will need to come out to verify, but if that is all , not too difficult to correct.
The kicker is the miles on the trans , once out , better to go the route and do what is necessary.
