Another Service Advance Trac issue
I had no dash/warning lights or problems at all prior to replacing the left rear wheel/hub assembly due to a bearing going out. This is a 2013 Explorer front wheel drive. I damaged the original wheel speed sensor attempting to remove it. Which by the way is not necessary to remove the hub assembly, but was advised in several you tube videos about the hub removal. Replaced the sensor with one from Autozone. I've been getting the "service Advance Trac" alert upon starting the vehicle along with the light with a vehicle losing traction and the abs light. And shortly after when backing up a message would come up saying check park aid and a tone as if the sensors were covered. I DO NOT have a backup camera, just the park aid sensors. The sensor from autozone says it is a rear wheel speed sensor, with automated park assist. I'm wondering if this is the wrong part. I'm thinking about getting a Motorcraft part from Rock Auto, but don't want to just start throwing parts at it, although the problem didn't start until I replaced the part. Checked the connection by the emergency brake as suggested in other posts, rechecked connection at sensor. A trip to dealership is probably a couple hundred easily, any advise would be appreciated, thanks.
The horse is out of the stable so to speak..
Based on some sad experiences, I try to stay with OEM parts when available. On line parts can get screwed up too and the return process is not worth the cost saving.
If you purchase from a dealership , yes, you might pay a few bucks more, but when you provide your VIN they know exactly which part goes on your vehicle and they can't afford comebacks, so the quality is usually much better.
The only suggestion I would offer is to recheck you work and make sure the wiring and plug are good. If so the part is the next subject to investigate.

Solved half of the issue by replacing the sensor with one from Rock Auto. Lesson learned, Auto Zone only carried the sensor with automated park assist. I needed one without. I'm still having the check rear park aid warning, but now without the "TONE" you get when about to back into something. It doesn't seem to "sense" anything now.
Sometimes we need to obtain certain parts from a dealership.
If you have the time and don't mind returning incorrect or wrong parts shopping around is OK.
In order to obtain the correct part for your vehicle from a dealership , they will need your vehicles VIN. That way they know exactly which part is in and for your vehicle.
Retailers don't have this info and they try based on the info they have available to them. Sometimes we wind up with "Fits All" parts that don't measure up to the original parts.
You can expect to pay a little more, but you should get the right part the first time.
There are a lot of aftermarket suppliers out there that supply quality parts and there are those that sell imported junk because they make the most $$.
The object is to know the difference and it is difficult to know until you have the part in your hand. Not many folks actually check to see where the part came from, but it is important to do that.
