Hello everyone, I was wondering if there was a special spark plug tool to remove spark plugs for a 2005 Ford Explorer V8. When you look inside the head there is a ring and my sockets are too fat and it doesn’t clear the ring. Any information would help greatly.

There are a few special sockets made just for this purpose. Most auto supply stores that sell tools most likely have them. They are longer and thinner than regular sockets and some have a knurled surface on top to make turning them easier by hand if hands are a little greasy.
