86 f150 straight 6
I hope everyone is doing well.
I have an 86 f150 with a straight 6.
She was sitting for a while.
Got her started, she was rough, but I got her to start.
This is where my headache begins.
I replace the mechanical fuel pump, then my uncle told me that the fuel line was leaking (not leaking), then said that the fuel filter that connects to the carb was fine (actually leaking), then said that the carb was leaking (come to find out the carb was fine)
I replaced the carb put everything back how it was, now it sounds like she dying.
I told my uncle that the only difference was the new carb.
We put the old one back on.
Now this is where I'm hitting a wall. I personally think something is draining my battery. I bought a brand-new battery.
The truck will sit during the week unless I have time before my shift to mess with it.
I noticed the other day that the radio that was hooked up to it was getting stupidly hot (burn plastic hot)
I am not sure if I should start with the wiring, battery, or something else.
TIA

For now, I would suggest you leave the battery alone..
You might try disconnecting the radio from any source of power All wires, and see if the "hot" problem goes away..
If it does, either something was connected wrong or there is an internal problem with the radio.
Let us know what result you received and we can go from there.
