found broken wire on ckp have to get pig tail to repair and then will try again, did a temp fix and truck started and idles for aboput a minute ten died, code came up 320 ignition, distributor, will fix new pigtail tomorrow and will see wat happens then

It is a little involved to replace the pick up coil in the dist.
The code is from that component and it's connections.
If you are careful and do a "GOOD" job repairing the connector, you might get away with just doing that.
The dependability of your vehicle will depend on the quality of your job. The connection carries very small amounts of electrical signal and it is critical that the connection is good.

If you decide to replace the pick up coil or dist please check here before STARTING the job.
There is an EXACT procedure to get things in place before disturbing settings.

is it better to solder the connection or use inline connectors

Ford recommends non-insulated butt splice connectors like this:
Amazon Amazon
+ heat shrink tubing.
All the connector replacement you buy regardless of what brand dorman or motocraft, always use that combo, especially in a tight spot, If you are pro at soldering, and when working only on the bench, maybe.

thank you for all the knowledge you shared. it is running pretty good now. used inline butt connectors and shrink tubing.
thank you on to the next challenge.

Repaired connector, started truck and let idle for about 10 min. turn off and check codes, no codes, took for test drive check for codes, none
knock on wood , think we got it. Thank you for your knowledge and assistance.
