2022 3.5 L Hybrid F-150 Lariat has been displaying Reverse Brake Assist Not Available See Manual on off when shifted into reverse for about a year. The dealer has had
it in the shop numerous times, but it never does it when they have it. They are now telling me that it is a known Ford problem for which they have no fix yet. I think they told me that just to get me to go home. I can't believe that there are 500,000 trucks on the road and Ford doesn't know about the problem.
I have filed a customer Case, but that hasn't gotten me anywhere. I welcome suggestions on how to proceed. Who to contact.
I've tried two dealers. Each had the truck for a week. I told them to drive it, but I'm sure they didn't. They both reloaded a program, but that didn't fix it.
In looking at the screen shot, it shows some confusing messages, at least to me.
The first suggests see the manual, what does the manual say , then there is the OK bar. Not clear what that is all about.
Is your vehicle doing anything unusual , if so what?
Sometimes it helps if you can request to have the tech actually take a short test drive with you driving it, and maybe you can get it to act up then..
If I am not mistaken, that feature is capable of being enabled or disabled. Did the people explain whether that feature is disabled at this time ?
I believe it is supposed to prevent the driver from backing up into anything.
Check the "Ford F150 forum" there are loads of info regarding this problem and the cures too.
What do you think ?
The OK is to clear the message. The manual says to drive straight for a couple of miles and it will clear. I've had this problem for a year. I'm sure I've driven straight during that period.
Vehicle operates normally otherwise. Not sure if I've lost back up stopping protection when it on. Would have to back into something to test it.
I've tried several times to get the techs to drive it. Left it at the dealer for a total of three weeks. They don't drive it. Just reload a module and bless it.
If I disable it, I get a message that it is disabled. I don't want it disabled. I want it to work.
I've tried searching on Backup Assist not available but get a lot of posts that are only kinda related.

Did you ever get this fixed? I had my truck at the dealer and they refused to diagnose after a month because it had a ridetech complete lowering kit. Issue started after I dropped it 3/5. I have calibrated the camera and still nothing.
When `I suggest something like put everything back to original without the lowering kit and if the problem is gone we have some thing to go on.
It can be a PITA to do this, but at least now you start looking at what changes after the kit is installed.. Until we can obtain some relevant direction , , who knows if or when the problem will ever be found. What do you think ?
