Default 2017 f250 super duty shaking violently after hitting a bump on intertstate

While driving down the interstate we hit a few small bumps. The truck started to shake violently. It happened 3 times. Slowing way down helped twice, but the third time we had to pull off the interstate. The truck has 38,000 mile on it. Any ideas?

A thorough check of steering and suspension components is a good place to start.

we had a vehicle with problems that are the same as you described. it is known as 'death wobble'. usually present in older chevys, open-frame dodges, and newer fords. the fords we ran across were able to be corrected with stiffer coils in the front. couple that with firm shocks, making sure that your front steering and suspension components are not worn, which is a real issue with ford, especially drag links and track bar ball joints. moog now makes problem-solver ball joints for the track bar. these corrections should resolve your issue. ps: make certain alignment is good as well. good luck with your truck.

I have seen a Dodge owner for quite some time and dealt with the death wobble and I changed the steering dampner to a heafty pro-comp and upgraded the shocks as well this eliminated it for good , I also did this before the ball joints were affected by the wobbling.- I believe upgrading the steering dampner for sure can help.

Default Death Wooble

I have this on my 2016 250 45000 Miles. Same thing happened to me. Scared the crap out of me. This should be a recall.. You need gear box, hydraulic steering damper and steering ball joint. Probably 1300 in parts alone. I am contacting Ford on this also. Don't know if it is a design issue and it comes back in 40k miles.
