Default Ignition problems. Need help immediately.

I replaced the ignition switch because it had gone bad. When the truck starts, it starts fine but when I let go of the starter switch, the actuator retracts too much and truck stalls. Could the acuator be warn or......? I've spent a week on this and really don't want to take this to a mechanic. Does anyone have any idea?

We should be able to help you out.
Need to know,
What are you working on
Do you have access to a test lite or voltmeter
Does your vehicle have an anti theft system
What was the original problem
If it has an anti theft system, have you tried the other key

Hi, thank you very much for taking your time to help. I am working on a 1990 F-250 with a 7.5L 460. It doesn't have an anti theft system. We do have access to a test light. The original problem is as follows: Upon starting, the motor would die always within 2 seconds of releasing the key. I removed the ignition switch, which was broken and replaced it. The new switch worked perfectly, but now it seems that the acuator is being pulled out a little too far and killing the motor.

The switch assy should have elongated holes so the switch can be adjusted to place it in the correct position for everything to work. It can be a dog to get at sometimes, but try moving the switch up or down in the slot range..
