Default Interior lights on at all times.

My interior light will not shut off. Except when I turn the marker light or headlights on. My truck is a 2006 F350 lariat Dualy. It has automatic headlamps. I’ve changed the headlight switch. The truck has a new cluster in it. I’ve checked all the fuse and changed all the relays. It seems like the lights are getting power from somewhere else. I have all the bulbs pulled out including the two in the third brake light just so I don’t kill my batteries. Anyone else ever has this issue. I am fresh out of ideas. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Welcome to the site..

Was the issue there/present prior to the cluster replacement?
The IC internal interior lamp relay functions are under control of the clusters micro processor..

Yes the issue was there before the cluster was replaced. My thought was the delay relay in the cluster keeping them on but the radio and everything else wires to that works fine.

Well I figured it out. I decided to pull the headlight switch out again. I then noticed it looked a little funny we’re on entered the wrap. The wires were burnt almost 6 inch up the harness. I bought this truck a few weeks ago and have been trying to figure this out since day one. There was an aftermarket remote start and a bunch of extra lights strobes and such. Just remember people. Just because someone thinks they can wire aftermarket stuff into a vehicle doesn’t mean they should.

Thanks for the update.

Odd if it were an overload, the circuit protection didn’t come into play.. All the correct amp fuses in place? Seen that where the amp rating was upped to carry the extra loads,,, never a good idea
Glad it was a simple fix tho.

Some one had wrapped wire around the base of one of the fuses. It is amazing that it didn’t cause more issues. With a lot of soldering and shrinkwrap later everything is working as it should.
