2006 SEL interior mirror removal

Trying to remove the interior rear view mirror. YouTube videos show how to prise with small allen wrench or flat head screwdriver and sliding off.
Neither is working for me.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Problem is that the mirror glass itself has degraded. I have an identical replacement one that I need to install.

It does take a special tool. Had it removed at a auto glass shop today.
