I have a new rack and pinion steering gear in my 88 mustang, I noticed I was loosing transmission fluid. I found the lower large nut on the end of the steering gear box loose and allowing fluid to escape. I'm not sure if this has to be adjusted or not, I tightened it up to stop the leaking, but am unsure if there is a specific procedure for this nut. Is it like a wheel bearing that can only be so tight? I could not find any information on this issue online anywhere. The rack shown is NOT the one in my car. It is one I found on the internet to show the nut.
