Default lights on warning chime

Hey guys im new to this forum. I have a 1993 ford ranger, just the basic model with the 3.0. When I turn the lights on I hear a chime coming from the dash. Usually I wouldn't care but it does it nonstop even when im driving. It didnt start doing this until I washed out the engine bay a couple months ago. Is it possible I shorted something out? Any help would be great.

You could disconnect, inspect, dry and reconnect all the harnesses under the hood. But disconnect the battery before you get started.
There is also a computer connector on the firewall. I don't know it this one is only drive train related or if it also has body control functions.

Good luck!

Detach battery negative. Remove most crud with a rag. Use WD 40 or an electronics cleaner to blow off any water and oily stuff. When cleaning the connector pins you may use sand paper or a finger nail file. Put a little dielectric grease in the connectors before you reconnects them.

......but , honestly, I was tempted to tell you: " Ask your mom..."

Hey Fullshaft: I am glad you have some humor!

The more details you give us the easier it is to help out.

Thanks again. No luck with cleaning the connections. I bought a Chiltons book, so now that I see it on paper I can just disconnect the dang thing.
