Question I need help please

I have a 2001 Explorer Sport. My oil gauge needle jumps when the gas pedal is not engaged. Is there a problem with the pump? relay? Is this something I could fix myself?

It is possible the wire connecting to the sending unit is not fitting tight enough. Or possibly a bad oil sending unit. I would try that first. Fairly cheap or free fix if it is just a connection problem.

These had alot of problems with the oil press. senders; they're on the left side of eng, under the power steering, and a bit of a pain to get to, but it's a very common problem. If it's high milage, you might want to stick an oil gauge in there and make sure everything is ok before you put a new sender in.
