o6 expedition 5.4L triton junk motor got sludge
went to garage to get phaser fixed and they said it has sludge and the tensioner was broken...Im not a mechanic but im under the assumption the truck wouldnt run with a broke tensioner. i asked them if theyd do the timing and they said they didnt have the tools to do it :ya i just said that" and they didnt like the sludge situation.....Anyways, ive gone to 6 others shops to try and get timing done and most said put another motor in it cause of the sludge. I cant swing a remanufactured motor and buying another used one ill have to worry about bad phasers and sludge again...I dont know what to do with the fkn thing...I need the truck to tow my camper, bike, boat atc. Nobody is gonna buy the truck with the P0012 code. I bought the truck like this..The oil was cleanish when i bought the fkn thing..Prior to all this i changed the oil and put in 5w30 instead of the 5w20 like recommended and the vct selonoid. I thought about doing the seafoam sh it but im really skeptical thatll end causing more problems. Cant i just have the timing done and and put in the higher volume oil pump and change my oil like every 1k or some sh it. with all the detergents in oil how do you even get sludge build up...IDK...if anyone has some advice i could use some help deciding what to do....

You're gonna get all kinds of answers and that's good.
If you like the vehicle, depend on it , and don't want payments that seem to never end, Install a remanufactured engine. They have ALL new parts and come with a better warranty.
I would suspect somebody dumped some MOTOR HONEY into the crankcase to hide an engine problem. Maintenance that is ignored can cause sludge buildup as can a PCV system problem and constant short trips where the engine never reaches operating temp. Maybe I missed a few. Pretty sure they will add.
