Default 07 Explorer 4.6 4wd 143k miles

The rear windshield wiper is working occasional using the on/off switch on steering wheel arm. Also when driving sometimes the wiper turns on by itself and working full movement back and forth and sometimes just moving like a clock (one small move at a time)..
When I turn off the ignition and turn it back on, the viper position itself in normal position like it should. Have replaced the whole arm on the steering wheel with no fix. Looks to me the rear viper motor is working and that something
else may trigger the strange behavior. Spoke to a mechanic and he said that I should go to a dealer and have it re-programmed. Is there something else that could trigger this. Thank you.

I picked out pinpoint D (above) and i (below), best possible match as shown above, even though no exact pinpoint test shown.

Check Rear Wiper Module 151-25 above and below, C4323 below.

If you look at the 81-2 electrical diagram above you can see 2 relays integrated into your rear wiper module, one is for washer the other that says "up" that is for wiper. If you have sticky relay then self activation is possible. So if at all possible, remove this module and disassemble it and spray electrical contact cleaner or 91% isopropyl alcohol spray type (Equate brand from walmart/cvs). You can't lubricate the sealed relays and they are probably soldered onto the circuit board anyway.
Don't forget to download 2 PDFs attached below.

Since you have multifunction switch removal under your belt so you might want to check the component procedures shown above.
