Just try to do a reset, like disconnecting your battery (both cables) for a couple of hours so the old learned values are gone and have a fresh start.
If you think you need to replace it get only Motorcraft brand.

That is true, never quit, even if it becomes difficult. I have disconnected the battery overnight and replaced my MAP Sensor during that time. Nothing changed.. troubleshooting is not my specialty. But I closely Inspected my vacuum lines and instead of one solid line, I saw sleeves that fit over the places where it looked broke, like a rubber hose over the plastic hoses. So I got some new vacuum lines, which I’ll start working on tomorrow. they look too old and brittle to mess with as is.

I have replaced my vac lines, cleaned my PCV, replaced my distributor, timed it by ear, I’m close but a little off, runs like it should! My only issue now is the idle problem, it will idle on and off, if it’s in park it’ll idle pretty smooth, touch the gas petal then it surges and dies, it tries to idle but rpm’s end up dropping until it dies. I’ve sprayed b-12 around the lines and near the throttle body, including the PCV and there was no change in Rpm’s. Check engine light is gone now, no more code 98, vac lines had to do something with it, the rough running was caused by the PCV, it was a little clogged. Cleaned it out and it acted better. Changed out my ECT and it reacted positively to it, throttle response is there no hesitation. I reran codes and I’ve got “SPOUT, circuit open or SAW circuit failure”, “TPS out of range”. I don’t see how it can be out of range though, could it still interfere with the idling?

Replacing a distributor is not a simple task ,,,to do it correctly.

The way it should be done is;;
Mark the dist and where the base is located on the engine.
On the dist outer casting, mark where the rotor is pointing EXACTLY., When installing, set the replacement dist in exactly the same position as the one removed.
If it is installed any old way,, it could be 1 tooth off, and the engine will never run right.

The spout connector is supposed to be disconnected when setting timing was it ?

Yes, I was warned about how careful I must be when setting it in, I had it exact, was challenging but I managed. Yes the spout was unhooked when I timed it.
