1986 e350 460 fuel pump wire mystery
Trying to get 1986 ef350 started. The key is very loose and it will continue cranking the starter motor if I turn it and it will not come off till I disconnect the battery.
Already have a new starter, new starter relay.
I am suspecting that problem is from the loose ignition lock cylinder actuator.
My question is that there are two sets of wires coming into the engine bay that run the fuel pump.
A blue and a black wire come together and when I turn the key, they power up the fuel pump. I connected those to the starter relay battery side.. ok.. but
There are another set of wires, a red wire with a yellow stripe connected to a black wire with a yellow stripe on a fusible link.
If I connect those to power, the fuel pump will run continuously.
I do not know therefore, where to connect these two wires.
I cannot get the key to crank and crank continuously other times..
It just stops with a loud clank in the new starter relay.
I am afraid that I have some wiring issue and I'm wondering if it could be with these two stranded wires.

There are 2 phillips head screws that hold the upper steering column plastic covers in place. You may need to to remove the ignition key tumbler from the column to get the upper cover off. On the underside of the column just below the steering wheel is a hole that you can insert a punch and depress the button and with the key in the accessory position you can remove the key tumbler. Installation is just the reverse..Once the covering is removed, you should be able to see the toothed rack and link that goes down to the ign sw mounted on the lower part of the steering column next to the brake pedal. Once you can see everything you should be able to determine where the problem lies. That is all for getting the key to return to on from start , if that is one of the problems.
Then fusible links all come off the starter relay that has the battery positive cable connected there. and go to supply various circuits.
I will need to check just how the fuel pump is powered before suggesting anything else. Should be a fuel pump relay in that circuit.

I have another question,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Are you sure the engine is a 460 ?
The info I have shows the only V8 was a 5.0L (302 CID) for that year...
In any case it should be electronic fuel injection.
They do have a fuel pump relay and inertia sw . I do remember that the ECA power relay and fuel pump relay were the same part number and were inter changeable..
Does your vehicle have dual fuel tanks ?

I've been out working and I am back on this trying to solve the problem.
I looked at my VIN code and the 8th letter is L which indicates a 460 see the pictures below.
I've had this thing for years and I am trying to get it started so I can sell it for a work vehicle.
So I found out that the starter relay was not making good contact with the frame. I went through three starter relays I'm not going to buy the Chinese ones anymore.
The vehicle will start with starter fluid.
I can hear the fuel tank running when I turn the key , and it stays running.
But no start in the engine yet and I don't think it's getting fuel.
Before I continue, I need to get this mystery solved about the wiring.
I will send detailed pictures this time to make it easier to understand.
But there are two wires coming from the fuel pump relay and I don't know where to hook them up.
If I connect them to power, the fuel pump just stays on.
I cannot find diagrams that match my wiring because I'm not seeing inertia switches or neutral safety switch type stuff.
I will send pictures and see if anything jumps out at you.
I'm sorry for taking your time but thank you so much.
