What's the best way to realign the distributor, apparently my mark's weren't good enough, it will turn over but won't fire thanks for the help

 

I hope you don't mean no fire=no spark because a misaligned distributor will produce a spark but at the wrong time.
Find top dead center of cylinder #1 and carefully install the distributor so the rotor tip is pointing exact at the #1 terminal on the cap. You may have to mark the distributor base to correspond to #1. You will then have to adjust base timing.I don't know what you have so I can't give anything more specific.
